STREET LIGHTS

An open door leads into an empty room

A lifetime of sorrow shadowed in gloom

A young boy sit's somewhat subdued

His weathered jean jacket faded blue

As he hastens to find the answers soon

He sits with his back up to a wall

Eyes focused on nothing at all

Hands limp in the evening sun

Upon a book that carries him on

He feels himself being slowly drawn

He holds his hands up to his eyes

He can't cover up

He cannot hide

He hears the words

Ring within his mind

Out there beyond the streetlights

Is a world waiting for you

Out there beyond the streetlights

Is a dream waiting to come true

Outside the window street lights glow

Upon the silent streets below

Across the horizon the sunset shows

As the summer heat begins to grow

The city seems to silently moan

All around him it seems to move

The city how it spins in grooves

Deep inside him it feels so true

He stands before the window

Gazing out at the view....
